He said it took a specialist company three days to remove the paintings from the apartment; officials refused to specify where they are being kept.<\/p>\n<p>Kloeble said investigators \u201cthink it\u2019s unlikely that any more paintings were stored elsewhere\u201d by the suspect.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_14414\" style=\"width: 356px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/slideshow\/2013\/11\/06\/arts\/design\/20131106NAZI.html#3\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-14414\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-14414\" title=\"kunst6\" src=\"https:\/\/www.zatista.com\/art\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/kunst6-346x400.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"346\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-14414\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">An unknown work by Marc Chagall.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Meike Hoffmann, an expert on \u201cdegenerate art\u201d at Berlin\u2019s Free University who is helping the investigation, presented pictures of a selection of works from the collection.<\/p>\n<p>They included a painting by Chagall that Hoffmann said isn\u2019t included in lists of the artist\u2019s work.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese cases are, of course, of particularly high art history significance for researchers,\u201d she said. Experts haven\u2019t yet been able to determine where the Chagall came from, she added, describing the research as \u201cvery, very difficult.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_14415\" style=\"width: by Henri Matisse, apparently dating back to the 1920s.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you stand in front of the works, see the ones that were long thought to have been lost or destroyed and in a relatively good state \u2014 some of them dirty but not damaged \u2014 you have an incredible feeling of happiness,\u201d Hoffmann said.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h6 class=\"zemanta-related-title\" style=\"font-size:
