About This Work

All this series is about how the colour floods the upper space of the support, the line becomes a pure chromatic manifestation, it ceases to be the object to become a medium. The lower white field balances the outburst of colour and the white lines which figured in my previous works, here, they disappear. Each artwork has many layers of color and nuances, twenty layers average or above. The name of series is SLIDING COLORS because the large-scale brush slides from the top down of the paper. Cintia Garcia's artworks have elaborate and often repetitive patterns where creates moments of tension and release as they lead the viewer across the canvas. Cintia García allows elements of chance to dictate the composition of the painting. She begins each work by tracing paint directly onto the canvas. From there, her process is highly technical and laborious, as she covers the surface of the work with straight networks of line and shape. García has described her abstract paintings as “mind-maps”—visual representations of his emotional state while working on a given piece. She does not predetermine the composition of a work, but rather allows visceral tics and emotional compulsions to guide her painting. It is a meditative, intensely physical process. ‘I have to wait for the right moment to draw some lines,’ she has said. ‘Sometimes it takes days and weeks to find the right state of mind. My breathing needs to be absolutely under control.’ Each artwork has been made with the best acrylic colors such as Schmincke or Liquitex and the support is Arches Watercolour Cotton paper, 156 lb. hot pressed. This work will ship flat in a sturdy, well-protected cardboard box. Wooden frame on request (ten days of delay). The wooden frame as you can see on the above photo is just an example.
