Roberto Bonifaz started drawing and painting at a very early age and later attended the School of Fine Arts in Quito. At eighteen he began painting portraits of his colleagues at California Polytechnic. He continued his portrait work at the University of Cambridge. When he returned to his home in Quito he parlayed his knowledge of the human form into women´s fashion design while still continuing to paint. Roberto has studied the work of Goya, Lautrec, Modigliani and Giacometti and excels in paintings that depict bullfights.
His painting have been displayed in England, United States, Canada, Sweden, Columbia, Chile, Argentina, Peru and his home country of Ecuador. He has also been exhibited at several restaurant openings, art galleries and the corporate offices of Lan Chile.
His abstract representations have been praised by critics and his use of light and texture in bullfighting images evoke the essence of Spanish influence.
